Dr (Richard) Ian Acworth is the Garry Johnston Professor of Water Management and Director of the Connected Waters Initiative at the University of New South Wales. He is the Vice-President of the International Association of Hydrogeologists (IAH) representing Australasia and the Pacific. He leads a team of researchers investigating the connectivity between surface water and groundwater for the Cotton Catchment Communities CRC. He has a particular interest in the development of geophysical techniques and general hydrogeological techniques for data collection. Ian has worked and published extensively in dryland salinity studies; coastal groundwater evaluation; contaminated site investigation; aquitard studies and general groundwater resource evaluation. Ian developed the Groundwater Studies Coursework Masters at UNSW. The connected waters web site shows current research interests and general groundwater news.
