The Forward Look Action Plan (2011-20) arose out of consultations with Council and IAH members, including a meeting of volunteers. Actions were set out under five headings:
- Education and academic development
- Internal development of IAH
- Informing and influencing global policy
- Enhancing alliances with external agencies
- Developing the science of hydrogeology
Achievements over the years included: the Strategic Overview Series of papers; restructuring of our commissions and networks; establishing our Early Career Hydrogeologists Network; launching the mentoring scheme; expanding membership and the number of national chapters; developing the IAH website and communication using new technologies; increasing the size, quality and citation index of Hydrogeology Journal; enhancing alliances, influencing policy and developing groundwater science. After the intial meeting a summary document was prepared. You can read this here. In 2017 we also produced a progress document which summarised achievements, priority actions and longer term goals. You can read this here.
Looking ahead to the next 10 years, for IAH to continue to progress, to improve its member benefits and activities worldwide, is essential to know what additional services and opportunities members and related communities will want during the coming decade. We are calling upon you to ask what you want for the Association.
