Free in our Hydrogeology Journal: Five decades of advances in karst hydrogeology

Karst aquifers have a worldwide distribution. Their unique characteristics, such as triple porosity (matrix, fractures and conduits) and extremely fast groundwater flow, set them apart from aquifers of other rock types.

Our Hydrogeology Journal (February 2021) provides a state-of-the-art overview of advances in karst hydrogeology since the foundation of the IAH Karst Commission 50 years ago. The guest editors (Augusto Auler and Zoran Stevanović) collected 29 articles representing 20 countries. This comprehensive collection covers innovative methods and applications, modelling of karst environments, karst protection and global changes, and case studies with wider applicability. It will be useful as a theoretical background to further academic studies and a practical guide to handling the complex geotechnical problems associated with karst regions. All the special issue articles will be freely accessible until 4th April 2021 and can be found at the link below.
