We are delighted to announce that all articles in Hydrogeology Journal’s May (2019) issue have free access until the end of June. This special issue focuses on the generally under-utilized groundwater resources in Sub-Saharan Africa, and highlights the urgent need to use groundwater to address a range of socio-economic problems. The guest editors (Yongxin Xu, Paul Seward, Cheikh Gaye, Lixiang Lin and Daniel Olago) have brought together 17 articles that provide a ‘snapshot’ of current groundwater research, development, and management in Sub-Saharan Africa, as viewed from the perspective of hydrogeologists of the region. This issue will interest anyone involved in sustainable groundwater use in developing countries.
