IAH Launches New Lecture Series: Lección Magistral Emilio Custodio

The Lección Magistral Emilio Custodio is an annual distinguished lecture series to honour Professor Emilio Custodio, an eminent Spanish hydrogeologist and president of IAH between 2000-2004. It is organised each year by the Spanish Chapter (AIH-GE) and IAH national chapters in Latin America.

The series aims to promote education and awareness in hydrogeology by promoting each year a lecture given by an outstanding scientist or engineer on groundwater science. The focus for the lectures is cutting-edge research on topics that Emilio Custodio was committed to, including hydrogeochemical and isotopes environmental studies, coastal aquifer, recharge studies, volcanic aquifers, groundwater governance and hydroethics. The schedule of lectures may include presentations at universities, research institutions, professional conferences and online webinars.

The lecture shall be presented in Spanish language as a first priority, with English versions delivered when feasible or required to ensure broader accessibility.

We are pleased to inform you that, after a careful evaluation process, Jesús Carrera has been selected to deliver the inaugral Emilio Custodio Lecture. Jesús and the Spanish and Mexican National Chapters of IAH have organised a tour including three universities in Mexico:

  • Tuesday 14 April: 4:00 p.m. — Lecture at UNAM, Mexico City
  • Wednesday 15 April: 4:00 p.m. — Lecture at Tec Campus Querétaro
  • Thursday 16 April: 4:00 p.m. — Lecture at Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León
