22 Feb 2023 – Webinar
Second generation of Eurocode 7
Eurocode 7 has been established as the European standard for geotechnical engineering design and is widely considered as a success story. The second generation of Eurocode 7 is currently being drafted by the CEN TC250 SC7 and will represent a significant step forward towards further harmonization and efficient guidance for geotechnical design.
After the recent event on pile design (https://eurocodes.jrc.ec.europa.eu/events/pile-design-second-generation-eurocode-7), this webinar focuses on the incorporation of groundwater influence in the second generation Eurocode 7. It aims to encourage geotechnical engineering professionals across Europe and the world to engage with the Eurocode 7 experts currently preparing the next generation of the code and learn first-hand about the upcoming changes, improvements and challenges.Price: Free
Organised by CEN TC 250 SC7 and ISSMGE ERTC 10 "Evaluation of Eurocode 7" committee in partnership with NEN.

Managed Aquifer Recharge: Unleashing Resiliency, Protecting Groundwater Quality
MAR Regulatory Frameworks and Water Quality Drivers. This NGWA conference will provide a forum for sharing technical, regulatory, and institutional lessons from existing projects to develop successful recharge projects addressing water supply resilience and groundwater quality. Managed aquifer recharge (MAR) is the purposeful recharge of water to aquifers for later recovery or other benefits. MAR includes various approaches including aquifer storage and recovery (ASR) and surface spreading. It is an increasingly important tool for mitigating the economic, environmental, and public health impacts of water shortages. MAR captures available water during wet periods, periods of low demand, or water that would otherwise be lost and intentionally moves this water underground for subsequent recovery or other benefit. While practiced for decades, MAR is of growing interest by many communities. A call for abstracts is in effect, with submissions due by January 15, 2023.
There will also be MAR workshops on April 23 and a MAR field trip on April 26.Price: $445 Members, $595 Nonmembers, $100 Students
Organised by National Ground Water Association.

Life of Mine – Maintaining Sustainability Through Geoscience Symposium
Life of Mine – Maintaining Sustainability Through Geoscience. The technical sessions will be encouraging single discipline and multi-disciplinary mining geoscience research and case study contributions over up to 4 half days, within six basic mine site geoscience application themes (with 6 to 8 keynotes planned).
· Mine engineering, operation, monitoring and expansion,
· Environmental Concerns and permitting,
· Regulatory Water and soil management,
· Rehabilitation, re-purposing of historical mines (e.g., re-processing of mine wastes for critical minerals),
· Closure and reclamation planning and implementation, and
· Education Toward Future Mining Geoscience Practice.
A fifth day is a planned Education Day for senior hugh school and 1st year college students encouarging consideration of a career in sustainable mining.Price: US$200 (early bird), US$250 after May 1, 2023

24-27 Sep 2023 – Marsa Alam Egypt
6-th International Symposium & Field Workshop Living with Environmental Challenges in the Coastal Zones
Living with Environmental Challenges in the Coastal Zones. Coastal zones around the world are under increasing threat of freshwater scarcity, due to both over-exploitation of groundwater resources and climatic changes. The rising demand for freshwater in coastal areas and small oceanic islands, combined with sea level rise and longer dry periods, could cause collapse situations, inducers of serious humanitarian crises. This session seeks to highlight the importance of coastal aquifers management in a context of climate change, considering the increasing demand due economic reasons, the over-exploration of water resources, especially in arid regions, and groundwater salinization processes.
Organised by The Egyptian Society of Environmental Change.

SWIM – Dead Sea
Seawater intrusion in coastal aquifers. After a hiatus of 5 years, we are very excited to invite you to SWIM-Israel 2023 to be held on the shores of the Dead Sea. The Dead Sea region is located at the lowest elevation of the earth and the Dead Sea is the deepest hypersaline lake in the world. SWIM brings together experts who focus on the theory, monitoring, modeling, and management of saltwater intrusion.
Organised by Eyal Shalev and Yossi Yechieli.
