IAH-RGFC Lecture Series
Regional Groundwater Flow Systems. Time: 2 pm (CEST), 26 May 2026
Lecturer: Prof. Attila Galsa, Eötvös Loránd University (Hungary)
Description:
Identifying the direction and intensity of groundwater flow is critically important for protecting water quality, as well as for efficient water extraction and geothermal energy production. For these reasons, it is essential to understand the forces driving groundwater and to systematically investigate their dynamic relations. In this presentation, the interaction of
the topography of water table (forced convection),
the thermal buoyancy (free thermal convection), and
the haline buoyancy (free haline convection)
were explored in groundwater flow systems through numerical models of synthetic and real hydrogeological situations.Price: Free
Organised by IAH-RGFC.
